THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (March 2, 2017) – The Woodlands Township Board of Directors held a special meeting Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at The Woodlands Township Town Hall, 2801 Technology Forest Boulevard.
During the meeting, the Board adopted a resolution in support of legislation introduced by Senator Brandon Creighton and Representative Mark Keough during the 85th Regular Session of the Texas Legislature. Senate Bills 1014 and 1015 and House Bills 2110 and 2183 have been introduced on behalf of The Woodlands Township to supplement state statues and provide for a smooth transition from a Special Purpose District form of government to a municipal government, at a time to be decided upon by voters of The Woodlands Township. The Board also adopted a resolution supporting legislation concerning the election of members to the Lone Star Ground Water Conservation District Board of Directors, which exercises control over groundwater resources in Montgomery County. Senator Creighton’s proposed bill would provide for the direct election of seven members, including one member to be elected by voters of The Woodlands Township, to increase the District’s accountability and transparency.
