The Woodlands Township Board holds meeting

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (April 21, 2017) – The Woodlands Township Board of Directors held a regular meeting Thursday, April 20, 2017, at The Woodlands Township Town Hall, 2801 Technology Forest Boulevard.

Before addressing agenda items, the Board of Directors took time to honor The Woodlands High School Lady Highlanders Swim Team’s recent Class 6A state title championship with a proclamation recognizing the team’s achievement of setting several new state-record times. The Board also approved a proclamation declaring April as Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month in The Woodlands, Texas, and a proclamation in recognition of the George and Cynthia Woods Mitchell Library being named a finalist for the 2017 National Medal for Museum and Library Service.

The Board of Directors took the following actions on the Consent Agenda:

  • Received and accepted the March 1, 2017, Special Board Meeting minutes and the March 22, 2017, Regular Board Meeting minutes for the Board of Directors of The Woodlands Township.

Received Administrative Reports for April 2017 for Community Services, Law Enforcement and Community Policing, Transportation and The Woodlands Fire Department.

Approved recommended revisions and additions to The Woodlands Township Personnel Policy Manual.

Approved recommended changes to the Conroe-The Woodlands UZA Transit Advisory Committee Bylaws.

Approved the purchase of a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) service to host user desktop environments on remote servers.

Awarded a bid to Vets Securing America for Security Guard Services for the Township’s Park & Ride Facilities.

Approved the 2017 Interlocal Agreement between The Woodlands Township and Brazos Transit District for the provision of Trolley services.

The Board of Directors then moved on to take the following actions on the Regular Agenda:

Received and accepted a presentation from Montgomery County Sheriff Rand Henderson regarding a stategic plan for law enforcement services throughout the County.

  • Received and accepted a quarterly Law Enforcement update from Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Captain Allison Allen.
  • Received and accepted a presentation from Waste Management highlighting the use of their supplemental funding which allows The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department to enhance environmental education.
  • Received an update on the Township’s request to the Texas Ethics Commission regarding political and campaign-related activity at Township Town Hall and directed the Township Attorney to submit a more limited request.

Appointed Director Bruce Rieser to serve as the Township appointment for The Woodlands Road Utility District No. 1 Board of Directors.   

  • Received and accepted a quarterly update from The Woodlands Convention and Visitors Bureau.
