The Woodlands Township Board holds meeting


THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (April 27, 2017) – The Woodlands Township Board of Directors held a regular meeting Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at The Woodlands Township Town Hall, 2801 Technology Forest Boulevard.

The Board of Directors took the following actions on the Consent Agenda:

Approved a draft Request for Proposals for a Park and Ride Mobile Ticketing System and authorized staff to advertise the solicitation.

The Board of Directors then moved on to take the following actions on the Regular Agenda:

  • Approved a proclamation recognizing May as Bike Month; May 19, 2017, as Bike To Work Day; and May 20, 2017, as Bike The Woodlands Day in The Woodlands, Texas.

Approved a proclamation recognizing the week of May 15-21, 2017, as “Police Week” in The Woodlands, Texas, to honor the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

The Board discussed proposed Texas State legislation impacting the W.G. Jones State Forest and Texas A&M’s ability to develop a portion of the property for educational purposes. Following discussion, the Boardpassed a proclamation to reiterate the Board’s opposition to any development in the Jones State Forest.  

  • Received and accepted a presentation regarding the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church construction project.
  • Received and accepted a presentation from the Assistant General Manager for Finance and Administration regarding financial impacts of Residence Homestead Exemptions. A full presentation can be found at the Township website.

Discussed matters relating to the final draft of the Bear Branch Park Master Plan and approved Phase 1 as presented with a professional fee schedule of 8 percent with an alternative to the bid including Phase 3 parking lot enhancements.

Received and accepted the March 2017 financial report for The Woodlands Township.

  • Approved the use of Mike Pietsch, P.E. Consulting Services, Inc. to prepare and present the results of an ISO Pre-Survey Packet and requested an ISO reevaluation through the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
  • Following an executive session, the Board of Directors approved the Township President/General Manager, Don Norrell’s, employment agreement in conjunction with the annual performance review.
