The Woodlands Township Board holds meeting

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (September 22, 2017) – The Woodlands Township Board of Directors held a regular meeting on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at The Woodlands Township Town Hall, 2801 Technology Forest Boulevard.

At the start of the meeting, Township President and General Manager Don Norrell gave a followup report on Hurricane Harvey efforts including  a Communications Report from Nick Wolda, Director of Community Relations. Mr. Norrell spoke about an upcoming event to recognize first responders and volunteers in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey that will take place from noon to 3 p.m. at Northshore Park, Saturday, September 23, 2017. The event is called, “Community Safety Expo / A Hometown Salute to Harvey Heroes & Volunteers.”

The Board of Directors took the following actions on the Consent Agenda:

  • Received Administrative Reports from Township departments.
  • Approved the purchase of a video surveillance security system for Township facilities.
  • Approved the purchase of fire department mobile data computers.

The Board of Directors then moved on to take the following actions on the Regular Agenda:  

  • Received and accepted a briefing regarding the Montgomery County and Harris County Office of Emergency Management communication process and FEMA funding and reimbursement available to the community.
  • Discussed Montgomery County County Commissioners Court action to reassess flood damaged properties in Montgomery County for the 2017 tax year and approved reappraisal of Township properties impacted by flood damage for the 2017 tax year as provided by section 23.02 of the Texas Tax Code.
  • Approved the purchase of a data center uninterruptible power supply.
  • Approved moving the Special Meeting for canvassing election results from Monday, November 20 at 4 p.m. to Friday, November 17 at noon. Tabled discussion on rescheduling a Board of Director’s planning session until the October 19, 2017 meeting.
  • Received an update from the Drainage Task Force from Director Bruce Rieser, who serves as Chairman of the Task Force.
  • Approved a proposal to develop and issue a Request for Qualifications for professional drainage engineering services to assist the Township with Drainage Task Force matters, including the Spring Creek watershed.
  • Received an update on debris management within The Woodlands related to storm impacts of Hurricane Harvey.
  • Received an update on solicitation of qualified organizations for a Governance and Incorporation Study and extended the process by 4 weeks. A Request for Qualification/Proposals can be found on The Woodlands Township’s website.
