The Woodlands Township Board holds Planning Session

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (April 20, 2018) – The Woodlands Township Board of Directors held an Incorporation Planning Session Thursday, April 19, 2018 to discuss future governance.

The Board of Directors discussed and approved the following incorporation-related matters on the Regular Agenda, based on the recommendations of the Incorporation Task Force:

  • Changed the meeting calendar to have Thursday incorporation planning sessions at 4 p.m. and regular board meetings at 6 p.m., regular board meetings on Wednesdays starting April 25th would commence at 4 p.m. and incorporation planning sessions would commence at 6 p.m.;
  • Directed the April 25th meeting at 6 p.m. to be a general meeting about the incorporation planning process;
  • Directed incorporation planning consultants from the Matrix Group to include specific incorporation planning issues on agenda items for Wednesday meetings in May 2018 through January 2019 and that the presentation by the consultant be followed by public comment;
  • Approved two Public Input Sessions to be added to the current calendar, one in mid-September and another in mid-November with specific dates to be proposed by Matrix;
  • Directed Matrix to attend meetings of each of the Village Associations to present the process and to gather public feedback, at least one Incorporation Planning Task Force member is to attend each of the Village Association meetings;
  • Directed Matrix to meet with the MUDs to address the incorporation planning process and seek feedback and for Director Rieser to be part of the MUD process;
  • Directed Matrix to set up Public Input Sessions for the business community through The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Partnership (EDP);
  • Directed Matrix to initiate a community survey later in the planning process, preferably around the time of the first Town Hall meeting to allow more information based on the completed reports to be provided to the public prior to answering survey questions about incorporation;
  • Directed Matrix to create and maintain a website on the Township’s incorporation study and to place information on their website to collect and respond to questions from the public;
  • Approved the cities of Frisco, Allen, Sugarland, Round Rock and Southlake to be used as peer cities for the financial analysis, based on per capita income, home values and population similar to The Woodlands;
